Frenemy – An enemy disguised as a friend

Definition from Urban Dictaionary – “An enemy disguised as a friend.”

Why do we put up with such people? Because we want to keep them close to understand their motives and minimize the impact of their actions in our lives? Or we genuinely cared for them when they our friends and now though we do know that  they are out to get us, but we want to give them another chance …. we want to forgive them and move on without breaking the ties.
Keeping frenemies in your life is the biggest proof of the spirit of belief and trust. It is the reflection of one’s trust in inherent niceness in people and believing that goodness will always prevail.  Otherwise isn’t the easiest  thing to do is to snap all ties with such people and don’t allow them access to your life where their actions can harm you. Or then maybe since these people started out as your friends – it may be difficult to snap ties  with them because pf social obligations!
Whatever…….
But how do these so called “frenemies” live with themselves? Don’t they have something called “Conscience” that continuously nags and haunts them? How do they sleep peacefully at night? Don’t they suffer insomnia because something is eating away their soul – a never ending agony of breaking someone’s trust, of doing harm to someone who loved you and confided in you as a friend????
