Recently I heard a beautiful soundtrack of movie Inkaar and for some reason the song has just stuck in my mind. I can listen to this back to back. The music is definitely good and reminds me of an not so recent song from movie Khoya Khoya Chand (the last track Swanand sang for Shantanu Moitra and Sudhir Mishra). But what attracted me more are the beautiful lyrics …. how true and profound. The case of interpretations and misinterpretations of simple communication between two humans. How delicate is the thread of interpersonal communication and how the words and thoughts are easily misinterpreted and lose their context and intent. How the interpretation of words is so dependent on the settings and the frame of mind of the receiver and sender’s original intent is so easily lost …..
Baat sehmi sehmi si , teri aur thi chali ………….. fisal gayi kyun
Maine barf si kahi, shola ban tujhe mili …………. badal gayi kyun
Mayno ka bhoj se, baat seedhi saadhi si ………… kuchal gayi kyun
Baat aandhiyan liye, hotho tak toh aayi thi …… thithak gayi kyun
Baat koi geet ban, hole gungunaye thi …………….baras gayi kyun
Baat reshmi si ek, sej pe bichayi thi…………………ulajh gayi kyun
I am not sure about others, but I know for sure that I have faced this situation multiple times. How the words are misinterpreted and lose their original intent. I tend to see world in my own perspective have this false sense of complex that people have responsibility to understand me and interpret mine intentions the way I meant it. Though I tend to forget that don’t I I every single time interpret the people’s actions and words as per my thought process (which is so colored by preconceived notions and biases). I guess food for thought for me ….. how do overcome this handicap ….. and try to understand the context of words from the sender’s perspective…..
