Unrequited Love …… an oxymoron

Unrequited Love …  hmmmm isn’t that an oxymoron???  Can love ever be unrequited?  None of definitions of “Love” I have looked up for has any mention of any achievement, reward or  reciprocity of emotion. A pure emotion like love , how can it ever be unrequited?  And why should love be successful only if it is reciprocated?

Why have we never heard terms like unrequited anger or jealously?  If we are content with other emotions only being felt by us irrespective of our target feeling exact same emotion, then why not love? Then why does  emotion of love (which as per me is purest and highest of all)  becomes a source of anguish if the target is not feeling exact same emotion? Do we feel bad when we are angry and other person is not angry with us? Does our anger in that case diminishes or become a source of anguish for us?

If we love someone … it is already requited 🙂
